Hints About the Experience

Whether you are opening your first evidence tile or working through a three-act dossier with friends, this briefing answers the most common questions about how Curioscandipuzzl designs, tests, and presents its mysteries.

01. How do you separate real Scandinavian culture from fictional puzzle premises?
We use real geography (such as the Bergensbanen railway, Lake Siljan, or Tromsø’s summer solstice) and authentic historical systems (such as Abraham Niclas Edelcrantz’s 1794 optical telegraph) to ground our settings. However, every mystery plot, character, and disappearance is explicitly framed as fiction, and we never claim cultural spokesperson status.
02. Why are hints and solutions placed in separate collapsible drawers?
Nothing ruins a good deduction faster than catching a glimpse of the culprit’s name in the margin. Our first drawer offers a respectful directional nudge—pointing you toward the relevant timetable or physical rule—while keeping the final answer sealed in a second drawer until you choose to verify it.
03. Do any puzzles rely on wordplay that only works in Nordic languages?
No. All puzzles are written and solved in English. When a clue incorporates Latin botanical names, Roman timber numerals, or historical Swedish telegraph codes, the complete translation table is included directly inside the dossier.
04. What tools do you recommend having on hand while exploring the cabinet?
A sheet of grid paper and a pencil are ideal for our 4x4 elimination matrices and three-act adventures. Everything else is self-contained on the page.
05. Are the cases suitable for quiet evening group play?
Very much so. Because our clues are broken into numbered evidentiary rows (`CLUE 01`, `CLUE 02`, `CLUE 03`), one person can read the premise aloud while everyone tests theories before opening the verification drawer.
06. How rigorously are the physical and scientific clues checked?
Every physical detail—such as low-pressure sodium vapour light wavelengths (589 nm), crown glass annealing temperatures (60 °C threshold), or Arctic Circle solar dates—is cross-checked against standard reference data so that observant readers are rewarded for logical precision.
07. How does the Case-Note tool on the Contact page work?
It runs entirely in your browser using plain JavaScript. As you type your deduction or editorial feedback, it formats a clean text dispatch that you can copy to your clipboard or download as a `.txt` file for your records.
08. Where can I learn more about the editors behind Curioscandipuzzl?
Visit Our Desk for our editorial charter, logic-testing process, and company details, or go to Contact to send us a note.
